SIMET was established in 1970 as SIMET Disabled Workers Cooperative.
At that time it produced simple metal and wood household goods. In the 80s the company started to produce items from thermoplastic and thermosetting materials and was able to develop. Assembly and production of electric devices (e.g. telecommunication exchanges) were introduced. This was the time when the company was active as Telkom Simet and employed about 1500 workers.
In 1997 the key decision for the company was to change into a joint stock company with shares owned by workers. At this point an intensive development of the manufacturing of electrotechnical equipment started. The company is situated near the borders of Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany, which is very advantageous for its cooperation and trade activity.
The main activity of Simet is manufacturing items from plastic and metal – especially for electrotechnical industry, in which the company is the leader of the domestic market.
In April 1999 intensive activities aiming at increasing quality of the functioning of the company resulted in certification under ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Nowadays, the company works on the basis of the latest version of ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, and these systems are under constant development.
